The collection is produced in Southern India in small factories that are either certified by the Fair Trade Labelling Organisation (FLO) or are working towards this. This ensures that all workers are paid a fair wage for their work and are stakeholders in the company they work for.

Nancy Dee are members of the Conscious Designers Collective which supports skilled and qualified artists and designers who practise in an ethical way.

Grow My First Pocket Garden

The Grow My First range is aimed specifically at children and is a fun and educational way to start kids off growing their own plants.

The first stage is to colour in the packaging which has been designed to include an outline of the plant to grow. Then use the enclosed seed and soil to grow the plant in the packaging. Simply cut open the packaging, add some water to germinate and place the packet somewhere warm and light.

Each kit also has a specific recipe related to the plant that is being grown on the bag of the tag. Once the plant is matured, the kids can then practise their culinary skills and turn what has been grown into something fun and tasty.

Thorn Pendant

This attractive coconut pendant features an inlaid, sterling silver stripe, threaded on to a 41cm cotton cord.

The Thorn Pendant is made on the remote island of Rodrigues using coconut shells which are a discarded material on the island.

Coconut is just about the only thing there that there is excess off and is one of the few sustainable resources available on the island.

The coconut jewellery is made on the remote tropical island of Rodrigues, 650km east of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. It is made by disabled creoles working for a local organisation (Careco) founded 20 years ago by resident Englishman Paul Draper MBE.

Rodrigues suffers from chronic unemployment. Careco offers security to people with very few other opportunities and also has a small school for the disabled at the same site.
