This wouldn’t normally be a problem but right now in India over 400,000 children are forced away from school and into child labour to tend for cotton plants producing seeds for farms all over the world. For years people have been campaigning to put a stop to this but with no results. In order to build a solution to this problem, Pants to Poverty are collaborating with Zameen to set up the world’s first farmer-owned seed company. By the end of 2009, we will have trained enough farmers and sewn enough seeds to have the world’s first guaranteed source of completely child labour free pants ready for you in Spring 2010. The workers are provided with fair wages and work in a friendly, healthy, clean and safe environment.

The small co-operative has provided economic opportunities to 78 women and aim to develop and support further socially marginalised women.
