Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s the Joanna Yarrow book that will turn everyone into a superhero saving the planet.
Do my shopping and eating habits really affect the health of the planet? What is biodiversity and what can I do to support it? What are greenhouse gases and are they affecting our climate? Can I conserve enery around the home and save money at the same time? These questions and countless more are answered in the helpful suggestions presented in Joanna Yarrow’s book, 1001 Ways You Can Save the Planet.

Last month BeMoreEco listed the nominations for Best Eco Gadget in The Vodafone Pocket-lint Gadget Awards.
The awards, decided by the UK’s top technology and gadget journalists from online and print, let you the consumer know what the best camera, satnav, music gadget, laptop, software, video game, home cinema device, mobile phone, email device, and eco gadgets are.
This year it was tougher than ever with the nominations drawn from over 600 products released in the last year with the usual suspects not even getting a look in on some of the categories.
So who was the winner of the Best Eco Gadget catagory. We can confirm it was Pure for its move to more friendly green practices and packaging. The runner up was Roberts solarDAB radio. Both of these products were spotted by the Eco Trend Spotter team.

Jo wood has come up trumps again by creating this fantastic addition to her Jo Wood organic beauty range. Don’t tell the wife, but I brought her one for Christmas.
This delightful Amka Eau de Toilette from Jo Wood Organics is a sophisticated blend with carefully composed top, middle and base notes. ‘Amka’ is Swahili for ‘to wake’, which is reflected in this scent’s deep, fresh aroma, with the romantic heart of Iranian rose otto and Egyptian jasmine, and bright top layers of neroli and bergamot. Green mandarin and sweet orange blossom add a more vibrant layer above a soft and spicy base of cedarwood.
Jo Woods’ fragrances are officially certified organic by EcoCert; with each containing 95% organic ingredients. The remaining 5% of ingredients are of natural origin too, from accredited and audited sources. Better still, all Jo Wood Organics packaging is recyclable; everything from the bottles and pumps down to the labels are formally approved by ECOCERT, helping us all to work to protect the environment.
This organic eau de toilette retails for £35.95 at ethical superstore.
We are mainly parents in the Eco Trend Spotter office and a wide range children ages. However we all have the same problem. When our kids go to bed they like us to leave the lights on. Now that’s the problem, it’s not an eco friendly solution.
Therefore that is why the Eco Trend Spotter Team love Candela lights. Candela lights provide a warm, ambient glow and are the eco-friendly alternative to candles with their long-life rechargeable batteries. The Candeloo lamps are great for use in kids’ rooms as well as other colourful locations. Patented, intelligent circuitry makes them illuminate automatically when lifted from the charging platter, and start to recharge as soon as they’re put back, making sure that they are available as and when you need them.
>>>Candela Eco Friendly lights can in varoius colours. They retail at £49.99 from Ethical Superstore. However for November only ECOutlet are offering 10% off this.

Now this is a great, yet simple eco idea which is going to stop people having sweep up leave several times over the coming weeks. Falling autumn leaves might be regarded as a chore, but to 1kg gardeners they are a source of rich nutrients for the forthcoming spring planting.
Not everyone has a compost bin and if you do, it might not be big enough to accommodate the huge amount of leaves which one small tree can produce. Our loose weave jute sack can hold thousands of fallen leaves. Once filled simply leave them in a corner of the garden. The leaves and the sack will biodegrade and you will have, that corner stone of green gardening, wonderful compost.
These retail at ecotopia for £4.99 (3 pack)

At Eco Trend Spotter, we like to cooking and the weekly organic stir fry’s is a must. Now to boost our eco credentials further Biomelifestyle have launched this range of eco-luxury cookware is made from 75% recycled cast iron. The pans are literally ‘naked’ and free from enamel or tefal coating, which often chips over time reducing the lifetime of the pan. This also means that no chemical substances are released, even when the pan is heated to over 300degrees Celsius. Instead, the oxide film produced naturally on the surface prevents the pan from rusting and also offers a non-stick surface which is great for cooking.
These eco pans are made using a traditional Japanese artisan craft combined with modern design and are proving to be highly popular in Japan with two leading restaurants converting all their pans to the range. This is due to the fact that the food cooks quicker, retains the flavours of the food and the pans heat is evenly distributed.

Restaurants are then able to save on cooking time, but also less gas or electricity energy when cooking, enabling the restaurant to take positive steps towards being environmentally conscious. Not forgetting recycled cast iron is used in manufacture and they are recyclable as well! They can also be used in the oven or on the hob, providing the ultimate versatility.
The pans are made with care, consideration and most importantly developed to ‘last a lifetime’.
